Happy New Years, Folks.

I am not one to sentimentalize an arbitrary calendar change. In fact, I may even go so far as to say I don’t really like New Years. I have kind of taught myself to let go of time and learn to let things take their course without comparing my pace to anyone else’s.

Regardless, I just wanted to take the time to thank everyone who reads this blog or listens to my rambles in real life from the bottom of my heart. You guys are a constant source of inspiration to me, and motivate me everyday to get into my kitchen to create cruelty free recipes and keep fighting the good fight. I am a firm believer that we do not need a calendar shift to want to be better people and create positive change. However, if that is how you roll, I hope 2013 is a fucking fantastic year for you.

For those of you who are already vegan, here’s to enjoying our cruelty lifestyles, giving a voice to the voiceless, and being awesome. For those of you considering making the change to a vegan lifestyle who have been following my blog, I hope this is your year, if you want it to be. I know any change can sometimes be scary, but I wish you the courage to take a leap of faith. I promise that you will feel amazing at the end of every day, and that there are vegan cupcakes waiting for you on the other side. If any of you reading this right now are in this position, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with me. I would love to help you in whatever way I can and offer my support.

2012 was a year of tremendous growth for me, and I hope to continue this path. I also got to

meet a lot of amazing people locally, through travel and hosting couchsurfers, and through the vegan communities of instagram and the interweb. I am thankful for all of you and your inspiring stories and compassionate hearts. I also travelled Canada from coast to coast (not in particular order), and got to visit so many amazing vegan friendly restaurants and businesses that I never would have dreamed of stumbling across nearly a decade ago. I am over the moon about this.

This year, I hope to continue to learn everyday. I am currently reading “The China Study” and am having a lovely time expanding my knowledge of the benefits of a plant based diet. I would recommend it to anyone wanting to examine veganism from a nutritional scope. I am looking into taking a couple courses in nutrition and agriculture, and would love to hear from anyone who has experienced the same. I also look forward to connecting with more awesome people this year, travelling more places, hopefully visiting some farm sanctuaries, and loving life.

So, thank you all for being so great. I am going to go have a New Year’s Eve waffle party with some of the best folks I know, now. Happy arbitrary calendar change, from the depths of my black heart.
